Although I haven't read all of the Lemony Snicket books, I have read a good many. I love the absurd sarcasm and writing style and watching the Baudelier children be resourceful and brave. I've acquired a good many highlighted passages but here are a few of my favorites...
- “When trouble strikes, head to the library. You will either be able to solve the problem, or simply have something to read as the world crashes down around you.”
- “Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”
- “I suppose I’ll have to add the force of gravity to my list of enemies.”
- “Wicked people never have time for reading. It’s one of the reasons for their wickedness.”
- “It is one of life’s bitterest truths that bedtime so often arrives just when things are really getting interesting."
- “Anyone who gives you a cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven is a friend for life.”
- "Strange as it may seem, I still hope for the best, even though the best, like an interesting piece of mail, so rarely arrives, and even when it does it can be lost so easily.”
- "It is likely I will die next to a pile of things I was meaning to read."
- "As I am sure you know, when people say 'It's my pleasure,' they usually mean something along the lines of, 'There's nothing on Earth I would rather do less."
- "If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives."
